2018 Scholarships Now Available!

Ohio GFOA Traditional Student College Scholarship  

ONE (1) $1,000 Award    
Requirements:
o Ohio resident enrolled fulltime and entering at least the junior year of undergraduate study in an accredited Ohio college or university
o Declared major in a field of study related to accounting, finance, budgeting or other similar area
o Good academic standing
o Provide list of classes taken, grades (include grade scale) and current class schedule
o One page statement regarding public sector career plans & why you deserve this scholarship
o Completed application form
o May include sealed letters of recommendation
(Ohio GFOA Board of Trustees family members are not eligible)
Scholarship awarded as tuition reimbursement to student. All applicants will be awarded a student membership in the Ohio GFOA for the (July-June) annual membership period.


Ohio GFOA Member Continuing Education Scholarship  

ONE (1) $1,000 Award
Requirements:
o Current member of Ohio GFOA
o Minimum of two years employment in a government position (defined as direct government, school, library, non-private sector) preferably in finance, budgeting, accounting or related field
o Enrolled in an accredited Ohio college or university, working toward a (Bachelor’s or beyond) declared degree in finance, budgeting, accounting or related area of study
o Statement of future plans in the public sector
o Copy of jurisdiction’s tuition reimbursement policy or statement of supervisor if there is none
o Sealed letter of recommendation from the applicant’s supervisor
o May include other sealed letters of recommendation
Scholarship awarded as tuition reimbursement to student.
Current Ohio GFOA board and scholarship committee members are ineligible.

Ohio GFOA Annual Conference Scholarship  

THREE (3) $900 Value Awards
Including:
o Ohio GFOA annual conference registration
o A two night hotel payment made directly to the conference hotel
o $100 for travel expenses
o Ohio GFOA membership for the remainder of the July-June annual membership period
Requirements:
o Must be an Ohio government employee
o A letter on government stationary from the applicant’s supervisor stating why the individual is worthy of the scholarship, that the applicant is permitted to attend the entire conference and that there are no other training opportunities nor financing available from the entity
o A statement from the applicant telling why they are deserving of the award

 

Ohio GFOA First-Time Annual Conference Attendee Scholarship  

FIVE (5) $900 Value Awards

Including:
Ohio GFOA annual conference registration
A two night hotel payment made directly to the conference hotel
$100 for travel expenses
Ohio GFOA membership for the remainder of the July-June annual membership period

Requirements:
Must be an Ohio governmental entity employee
Must be a first-time Ohio GFOA conference attendee
A letter on government stationary from the applicant’s supervisor stating why the individual is worthy of the scholarship, that the applicant is permitted to attend the entire conference   
A statement from the applicant telling why they are deserving of the award
Must attend the conference welcome/business luncheon
