Webinar Description: Ohio agencies spend 60% or more of their budget on labor each year. Focus on total compensation of salaries, retirement benefits, health benefits, special pays and expenses have become more critical now with the steady rising cost of pensions. Learn about the latest methods for managing labor costs through negotiations, personnel budgeting and effective stakeholder communications.

    Speaker: Adam Benson, Senior Public Finance Advisor, GovInvest

    Mr. Benson is a consultant with GovInvest, a leading Financial Forecasting technology and consulting company. He combines his background in public finance, labor relations, and employee benefits to provide local governments with strategic financial and operational advice. Mr. Benson served in several capacities at the City of Oakland, CA, including most recently as the Director of Finance/Treasurer. He directed all activities of the Finance Department, consisting of the Treasury Bureau, the Controller’s Bureau, the Budget Bureau, and the Revenue and Tax Bureau, with more than 165 full-time equivalent employees. Prior to being appointed Director of Finance, Mr. Benson served in the role of Finance Manager and Budget Administrator, where he oversaw the development and implementation of the City’s two-year $3.3 billion operating and capital budget.
